WindyPeak Landscaping is based in East Oakland — our shop is on Auseon Avenue in the 94621 — so Oakland isn't a service area on a map for us; it's where our trucks sleep. We build patios, retaining walls, and complete landscapes from the flats to the hills — and when a yard has gotten out of hand, our cleanup crews reset it in a visit.
Oakland is really several climates wearing one name. Down in the flats — Fruitvale, East Oakland, San Antonio — lots are compact and sunny, and the best projects squeeze every foot: a paver patio that becomes the dining room, turf where a struggling lawn used to be, low-water beds along the fence line. Up the hill in Montclair, Redwood Heights, and above the Warren Freeway, everything is slope: retaining walls, terracing, drainage, and fire-defensible planting are most of what we build there.
The soil underneath nearly all of it is expansive clay — it swells in January and cracks open in August, and it destroys hardscape that was built without respect for it. Every WindyPeak patio and wall in Oakland is built on a compacted base with drainage designed in, because we've seen too many two-year-old DIY patios rolling like the Bay.

Do you really cover all of Oakland?
Yes — we're based at 1729 Auseon Ave in East Oakland and work citywide, from the estuary flats to Skyline. Hills or flats, the truck is usually less than 20 minutes away.
Do you handle Oakland permits for retaining walls?
We do. Walls over 4 feet need engineering and a city permit; we manage both. Under 4 feet, no permit — but we build with the same drainage standards either way.
Can you help with a fire-inspection notice?
That's a regular call for us in May and June. We clear brush, create defensible space to the standard, and document the work with photos for the city.
