How much does a paver patio cost in Oakland?

Do I need a permit for a patio in Oakland?
Ground-level paver patios generally don't require a permit in Oakland. Attached structures, roofs, or anything involving retaining walls over 4 feet do — and we handle the permit process when it applies.
Pavers or poured concrete?
On East Bay clay, pavers win long-term: they flex with soil movement instead of cracking, individual pavers can be lifted for repairs, and permeable installs help with winter runoff. Concrete is cheaper up front but cracks are forever.
